Bold & Bright In Anacostia
This project was designed for a family of four who had lived abroad and wanted a home that reflected their travels and personal collections, while also offering smart storage. The townhouse presented an unusual challenge for DC: an overly open floor plan with very little spatial definition. To create separation and flexibility, we added wing walls and carved out a dedicated flex room.
The clients love color and pattern, which allowed us to layer saturated hues like pink and gold against deeper tones such as navy and charcoal. Their existing art collection played a major role in shaping the design and was thoughtfully integrated throughout.
To keep the living area feeling calm and intentional, we concealed the television behind custom sliding doors. We also incorporated built in charging at the desk area and inside drawers, along with layered lighting throughout the space including sconces, pendants, and lamps to add warmth and functionality.
