Capitol Hill
Kitchen Retreat
In Capitol Hill, we undertook a project with a family of four, including energetic twin tweens, to revitalize their outdated and dimly lit kitchen space. The existing environment lacked the warmth and functionality needed for a bustling household. Our approach focused on brightening the space with crisp white cabinets, strategically placed new lighting fixtures, and a thoughtfully redesigned layout that promotes better flow and functionality.
Central to the design is a charming built-in bench complemented by whimsical wallpaper, offering a delightful nook for relaxation and casual dining. Leveraging the kitchen's existing folding glass wall to the patio, we reorganized the layout to maximize natural light and seamlessly blend indoor-outdoor living.
This project began optimistically in March 2020, just before the world shut down, necessitating a pause in construction until 2021 when conditions were more stable. Resuming work and completing construction in 2022 felt symbolic—a testament to resilience and adaptation through uncertain times.
Our design philosophy is based on the belief that design is not just about aesthetics, but also about creating environments that make you feel at ease, inspire your best self, and reflect who you truly are.
